Exclusively from Guatajiagua, El Salvador, Park Avenue Candles introduces black Morazan Pottery. The economy of Guatajiagua is supported mostly by the production of this traditional craft. The women are in charge of the creative art, molding each piece by hand. The men are responsible for harvesting the mud and firing the finished pieces.

The characteristic black coffee color comes from a bath made from the seeds of the Caesalpinia tree. Although villagers have eaten and prepared meals on the pottery for generations, we think their platos make fabulous candle holders. Park Avenue Candles proudly supports the villagers of Guatajiagua and their ancestoral craft.
